Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: Happy Chappy

Gran Turismo 7 Day-to-day Races: Satisfied Chappy

As gamers get ready for the next Gran Turismo World Series season, which kicks off this week, the most recent batch of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races launches today.

This week’s schedule consists of three ordinary races: a one-make event with Driver Rating updates disabled and races for the main Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 classes, which are this week’s order of competition. Interestingly, however, there isn’t a road car race since Race A is all about a vintage and distinctive racing vehicle.

Few racing vehicles are nearly as “out-there” as the Chaparral 2J, which resembles a washing machine with wheels added. Though its exterior may not be as impressive as it seems, the 2J used some ingenious technology to beat its competitors by up to 5% and become the quickest vehicle in the already competitive Class 7 of Can-Am racing.

This was made possible by a Lexan skirt system that was activated by the suspension and created a type of seal at the car’s bottom. Driven by its own two-stroke motor, a pair of fans pulled air out of it to produce something like to a reverse hovercraft. Adrian Newey created the Red Bull X1 (later X2010) for Gran Turismo 5, and more recently, the GMA T.50 supercar and McMurtry Speirling, both employed similar technologies.

Unfortunately, the 2J wasn’t particularly dependable; in its one and only season of racing, it failed to finish in all but one race. However, with GT7, these issues are resolved. Get an example (or borrow one for the event; it can take some time for it to become accessible in Legends Cars again), put on some Racing Hard tires, and do a six-lap circuit around Monza. This track variation does not include the Rettifilo first chicane.

Additionally, be aware of the “false start check” on the grid start. To do this, you must keep the vehicle on the handbrake or brakes until the final start light illuminates and the race is signaled off. Depending on how high up the field you are, moving before the start might result in a large pile-up and a brief, on-the-spot power cut punishment.

This week’s races, B and C, include modifiable settings for differential torque, suspension (spring frequency, damper compression and extension, and anti-roll bar), and brake balance.

This week’s Race B, a condensed version of last week’s more exciting Race C, features the Gr. 3 cars. On Racing Medium tires, you’ll be making a quick return trip to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for a thrilling four laps. This week, there are no additional special considerations, so go out and give this sprint effort your all.

That means it’s the Gr.4 cars in Race C, an 11-lap race that takes place in the made-up Dragon Trail Gardens. You may want to sharpen your tactical sense for this one.

Even though the front- and all-wheel drive versions have configurable options, certain vehicles may be less desirable in terms of grip loss throughout the race due to a combination of significantly softer Racing Medium tires and a middling 6x tire wear multiplier.

But there’s also the obligatory pit stop, which seems to be the standard in Race C these days. Just go down pit lane; you don’t need to bring extra fuel or new tires with you for the stop. However, you may choose to give up a few seconds in exchange for new tires if you’d like. You will be penalized one minute after the race for failing to make the stop.

To get entry to the Daily Races, you must first unlock Sport Mode in the GT Cafe single player hub by finishing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”). To participate, a PlayStation Plus membership is needed.

The next fresh set of GT7’s Daily Races should be available on Monday, April 22, as they have been updated every Monday during the game’s existence.
