Mazda 3 Tremendous Taikyu Race Automotive Shall be Coming to Gran Turismo 7
The recent Mazda Fan Festa event at Fuji Speedway in Japan announced that a new vehicle from the company will be included in a future update to Gran Turismo 7.
The car in question was shown as part of an on-site esports event, the Mazda Spirit Racing GT Cup 2023 at Fuji Speedway, and is a Super Taikyu series vehicle campaigned by Mazda themselves.
It’s based on the Mazda 3 hatchback, which made its road car premiere in Gran Turismo 7 earlier this year alongside the Fuji Speedway environmental upgrade. The automobile, however, has been updated to endure the rigors of the endurance racing series, as well as mandatory racing equipment.
Mazda competes in the ST-Q category, which is for alternative-fuel vehicles. To that purpose, the Mazda 3 Bio Concept is powered by biodiesel, and it is an extension of a similar concept fitted into a Mazda 2 that the team campaigned in 2022. Mazda also offers a compressed natural gas-powered MX-5 in this class.

Its existence as an in-game car was initially revealed in a document distributed to drivers and personnel at the Mazda Spirit Racing GT Cup 2023 event and shared on social media — which you can see at the bottom of the Tweet above from event commentator Haruo Murata.
Further photos of the document revealed that the automobile will be known as the Mazda3 Gr.4 in game, and will thus join the existing Mazda Atenza as an available vehicle in the Gr.4 category. It will be available in both the ST-Q white and gray Mazda Spirit Racing liveries that have been featured on other Mazda vehicles in the game.
Of course, we don’t yet know the exact specifications for the in-game vehicle, but the Super Taikyu automobile is powered by a 300hp version of the 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D turbodiesel, which employs a special Garrett GTX series turbo designed specifically for the car.
We don’t know when the Mazda 3 Gr.4 will be accessible in Gran Turismo 7, but given that it’s a playable machine in the special event build and guests are permitted to chat about it on social media, we don’t think it’ll be too long.
It’s unclear whether that will happen as soon as the next update, which we estimate to arrive around Thursday, September 28. Following the early access period in August, that update will most likely unlock the Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition and Toyota Himedic Ambulance at Brand Central for all players.
